The Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana will play host to Super Bowl XLVII, in what is sure to be a great event that any football fan would enjoy watching in person! The Big Easy is known for giving great parties, and there surely won’t be a bigger one when the Super Bowl comes around in 2013!
The Super Bowl will be played on February 3, 2012, with many great events occurring before then such as Mardi Gras, Media Day, the Super Bowl Fan Jam, and so much more!
With that said though, who currently has the greatest chance of making it to the Super Bowl in 2013? Here are the current teams with the greatest chance of making it there:
New England Patriots (5-1)
The Patriots nearly won Super Bowl XLVI over the New York Giants, were it not for a great catch made by Mario Manningham in the final minutes. With Tom Brady back next year along with a great offense and likely an improved defense via free agency and the NFL Draft, it is no wonder why the Patriots have the best odds of winning.
Pittsburgh Steelers (6-1)
The Pittsburgh Steelers had a heartbreaking playoff loss against Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos in the 2011-12 season, and will be looking to rebound with a great defense and an improved offense led by Ben Roethlisberger.
Philadelphia Eagles (6-1)
The Philadelphia Eagles got off to a slow start in the 2011-12 season, but were able to pick it back up at the end of the season as the team was able to gel more. With a year under their belts, the Eagles will certainly be a favorite to win the NFC East, so long as Michael Vick can stay healthy.
New York Giants (8-1)
The New York Giants will be looking to defend their Super Bowl title in the 2012-13 season, and have most of their team returning. Eli Manning will have to step it up on offense against the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles in their division, but the team certainly has a great chance to repeat.

Attending the Super Bowl has been widely recited as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the two best teams in the NFL hash it out for that elusive title as being world champions. This year’s game is being held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 5th, 2012. Even many die hard football fans would be astonished to find out that this is actually the first time that the Super Bowl will be held in Indianapolis, a cold city. Among cold-weather cities, this is only the fourth one since Detroit hosted Super Bowl XL.
For the city of Indianapolis, the planning has been underway for a few years now. The planning committee CEO, Allison Melangton, has been steadily hiring managers in preparation for one of the most widely seen events in the world. While her hours started with the normal forty hour work week back in 2008, she now spends seventy plus hours per week planning the event. Luckily, the city has also been very important in helping to make sure that everything will be run properly.
With an easily accessible downtown area and a zealous community, Indianapolis is excited to get the bid for this Super Bowl. The whole event is expected to bring in over 120 million dollars to Indianapolis. The entire state was really supportive of the whole endeavor. With the unanimous support of city leaders, this year’s Super Bowl is coming to a state with a strong tradition in football. The Colts and their fans are also pleased. In fact, Gov. Mitch Daniels stated that “all the Colts fans, I’m thrilled. As a citizen of Indiana, I’m proud.” Last year in 2011, Indianapolis barely lost the bid to host the game. Even NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said that owners were blown away with the level of enthusiasm Indy fans had about the event.
If you are looking to go to Super Bowl 46 and want to have the best amenities, travel packages may be the best way to go. It will cost a bit more, but you will get an all access pass and will not have to go out of pocket any more. Many travel agencies are promising to get clients from their house to the game and then back again, all in first class style. Clients have their choice of hotel and there is an on-site host for your road trip and stay. There is also a gift package if you wanted to get something memorable to take back with you.
There are also other optional addons to make the most of not just the game, but the whole trip to Indy. There are numerous Super Bowl Parties and exclusive NFL events where you will be on the top of the list to get in. You can get your room upgraded to a larger suite and have dinner reservations to restaurants and locations that are typically booked for months in advance. If you are looking to get in a little exercise or relaxation, you can also experience rounds of golf or full on spa treatment.
You can also choose what kind of transportation you would like. You might enjoy showing up on a sedan or motor coach, or you may want to show up in style with a private limousine. Of course, airfare can be chosen in terms of first class, private jet or economy, based on your budget. Some of the lowest packages start at around $5,000 and can go up depending on which amenities you would like to include. Rest assured that most of these suites include a professional concierge who will make sure to guide you along your journey to Super Bowl 46 in Indy!
Just because Super Bowl 45 ended does not mean that people have to wait until the start of 2012 to look at tickets and packages for next year’s game. In fact, websites and ticket agencies have already begun marketing to the mass public. Deal sites all over the country are offering hotel packages and tickets to suit all tastes and wallets. Most of these basic packages come with normal amenities. One service in southeast Indianapolis promises upper level end zone tickets, cocktail parties on the day of the game with former NFL champs, roundtrip luxury motor coach buses and shuttle service. They also offer a daily hot breakfast and souvenirs to remember the event.
If you are looking to book a comprehensive package and are not sure where to start, be on the lookout for these major aspects. Tickets: a wonderful stay in downtown Indy is a great trip, but for February 5th, it is pretty useless unless you have actual Super Bowl tickets. Typically, you will be allowed to upgrade your package based on your desire. Accommodation: depending on the distance from the stadium, hotels will offer rooms and rates that will meet your needs. If you won’t be spending much time there, then there is probably no need to pay extra for pool access and such.
Most Super Bowl packages come with transportation, but make sure to double check. You want to be able to get from the stadium and back to your hotel room without any hassles. Cocktail Parties: make sure to attend one of these as they are a great experience for any die hard NFL fan. Usually there is a guest speaker and plenty of free booze and food. Lastly, before booking, make sure that you have your own concierge assistant who can walk you through the process and make sure that you get everything that you want out of your trip!
For hotels in the area right Lucas Oil Stadium, hotel tickets are going to be very expensive. Depending on how far away you want to be from the actual stadium, the rooms get much more expensive. If you want a basic room at a low end hotel, you can get by with paying about $1000.00 per night. However, for high end luxury hotel rooms in the area, be on the lookout for price close to $10,000 for a three night stay. For a three night stay at the Hampton Inn, you would be looking at $4,395 for a medium sized room with normal amenities.
Of course, there is much opportunity for fun in the down town Indianapolis area. There is a Children’s Museum located within minutes of the stadium as well as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and a local zoo. These local attractions will draw in plenty of tourism for the local businesses. This is why hotels are offering the best deals possible do draw as many guests into their hotels as possible. If you are serious about booking a whole travel and stay package at any of these hotels, the initial deposit is around $600 dollars.
Uncertainty over the 2012 Super Bowl during the lockout phase has also put strain on hotel owners. Any prospects of cancellation of the game had city officials pacing. Hotel owners were at the highest level of risk before the lockout officially ended. Since most hotels had booked 90-95% of their occupancy based on the Super Bowl, any major changes would result in mad refunds. Despite the negative sentiment, NFL planners are still optimistic that the event will take place. After all, they have been planning it and coordinating with local businesses in Indy for over three years. It is projected that if the city lost the Super Bowl this year, they would not only miss out on 120 million dollars in profit, but at least 25 million that went into planning.
The Super Bowl came about as part of a merger of two competing football leagues, the American Football League and the National Football League. While the original agreement was that each league would square up for the world championship, it was later decided that they would be turned into conferences. The official merger was in 1970. Since this time, the Super Bowl has grown to be one of the most coveted sporting events in the world.
Super Bowl XLVI will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium, in the heart of Indianapolis. This will be the first time that the event will be held here. As the second largest day for food consumption, Super Bowl Sunday is considered to be almost a holiday for Americans. It is also the most watched television program in history, with an average audience of 111 million viewers. Only those lucky enough to have enough money will be able to get into the game. Even for a parking lot tailgating pass, the cost of entry is $1,500. With that ticket, you do not even get to go to the game!
If you are looking to get in on some tickets, be ready to pay a hefty price just for basic tickets. Even the nosebleed seats start at roughly $3,000 each. Those are the worst seats too. If you want to get your hands on some luxury suites, be prepared to spend close to $80,000, minimum. Of course, there are only a limited number of these suites available as well. Since many corporate clients invite their whole workforce or clients, sometimes the prices can be even higher. This all depends on how many persons you want to accommodate. The resale market booms as some brokers charge up to 1000% more than the actual face value of the price! Luxury suite packages with full travel amenities are even more expensive.
Half time entertainment at the Super Bowl is considered a special performance because of the raw number of viewers who are going to see it. After last year’s enjoyable yet terrible show, who will grace the stage in 2012? One major prospect that everyone is looking at is Taylor Swift. Hopefully the Super Bowl will be an environment that Kanye West will not disturb this year. If U2 played this year, it would mark their 10 year anniversary since they last played. A great 9/11 tribute would certainly go well with the crowd and would be commemorative of American values.
Without going on too much a stretch, there is some speculation that the NFL might entertain the idea of having Lil’ Wayne perform as well. While this may raise eyebrows, the star’s popularity is certainly at a level where it would attract attention. If all other options are exhausted, it is always a fail-safe to have stars like Elton John and Billy Joel join the show. It might even be Eminem. After last year’s 2011 Chrysler ad, you would think that the famous rap star would be gung ho about performing at least close to his home town.
We all know what some fan favorite picks would be. That is definitely Lady Gaga. Most people would agree that it would happen at least once within the hot artist’s lifetime. If you wanted to meet the artists in person before or after the show, you might be able to if you purchased luxury suites. Most of these packages offer the added benefit of being treated like a celebrity. Of course, if you spent over $100,000 on your private suite, you would expect to get as much value out of it as you could. Either way, fans are waiting to find out who will be performing for the 2012 Super Bowl in Indianapolis.
